Bio
I work in Ayrshire & Arran in Scotland as a Service Manager for Children’s Services with responsibility for Health Visiting and Infant Feeding. Prior to this, I was a Child Protection Health Advisor, and my professional background is in Health Visiting and Midwifery.
I am also a PhD student in the Centre for Child Wellbeing and Protection, supervised by Dr Duncan Helm. My research study title is ‘An exploration of factors influencing professionals and families understanding and experiences of child neglect’
During completion of my MSc in health promotion and public health, I completed a research project exploring Health Visitors confidence in identifying and managing obesity in pre-school children.
I am a peer reviewer for the Journal of Health Visiting and have published peer-reviewed papers on the topics of child neglect and cultural competence in Health Visiting practice. I have presented at conferences hosted by ISPCAN, Northumbria University, the Journal of Health Visiting, UNICEF Baby Friendly and the Institute of Health Visiting.
